After reading this blog post, you’ll know everything there is to know about essential oils for gluten intolerant people. You’ll learn what they are, how they can help with symptoms of gluten intolerance, and how to use them.
Gluten-free essential oils are a combination of pure plant oil and therapeutic grade pure essential oil. They may be used topically, aromatically, or internally for health benefits. Essential oils can help you reduce inflammation in your body, ease digestive issues, or even boost immunity.
What brand of gluten-free essential oils do I use?
I personally use Young Living Essential Oils. These Essential oils are made from plants and contain no gluten or chemicals. What sold me on this particular brand was their “seed to seal” process, which means they control the entire production (owning farms across the globe, planting their own seeds, cultivating, distilling, and bottling each oil).
That’s crazy important because it means they can ensure that no pesticides or herbicides are used, nothing is added to the essential oil- it’s pure, unadulterated goodness.
This sort of control over creating a product became important to me when I started living gluten-free. I wanted assurance that my foods were truly 100% gluten-free. And the same goes with my oils. I want to know that what I’m putting on my body is safe, organic, and pure.
Young Living oils can guarantee they are gluten-free for me. Lastly, Young Living has around 150 oils to choose from, so I knew that there would be plenty of blends that would really fit me amongst that many. And while yes, it does take some time to figure out which oils work best with your body, it’s totally worth the journey.
What other gluten-free essential oil brands are safe to use?
Keep in mind there are no FDA regulations on essential oils, so it’s super important to know your company. Don’t run to the grocery store and buy the first oil you see (cough… I may have done that at first, oops, haha!).
These cheaper oils at grocery stores have often been produced by applying heat, pressure, and/or chemical solvents. These extraction methods can destroy the therapeutic compounds in oils. This means we are getting a less potent version of the good stuff.
This is why it is important to do your research and find the right brand for YOU! Also, no matter what brand you use, make sure there’s no expiration date on the oil. The only reason an oil would “need” to expire is if the oil is not pure. And you don’t want oils with anything added.
Here are three other essential oil brands that are also gluten-free you might want to try:
Art Naturals Essential Oils: Art Naturals essential oils is a company that makes high-quality, natural products. They are 100% pure with no additives or fillers. These gifts from nature are fairly priced so that you can enjoy the many different benefits they have to offer: aromatherapy; use in household cleaning products; pain relief via massage oil; bug repellent, to name a few. Use these magical little wonders daily and feel good knowing you’re living something wiser.
Pure Body Naturals Essential Oils: Pure Body Naturals Essential Oils is an amazingly effective lineup of oils. You can use these oils for just about any need, including boosting the immune system and digestive health, soothing sunburns and skin rashes, fighting coughs and colds, easing sore throat pain with warmth or coolness, depending on your preference. These gluten-free essential oils keep you smelling fresh and feeling oily without the unpleasant side effects.
Naturenics Essential Oils: Naturenics Essential Oils is a product that combines traditional knowledge of holistic healing with modern science. Every bottle is made with the highest quality ingredients around. An extra step in production helps protect from potential allergens. Naturenics has been making high-quality, gluten-free essential oils for years – with no side effects. It’s hard to resist giving it a try!
Do I really believe that oils work?
I truly believe there is a time for both medicinal and natural cures in our lives. I’m grateful for both! Will each oil work for every single person that uses it? Nope. Everyone has different body chemistry. So, an oil that is amazing for you may only be “okay” for me.
We all have preferences when it comes to headaches meds or allergy meds. It’s the same with oils. The cool thing is that our body will metabolize an oil within 20 minutes, so you’ll know pretty quick if that oil “fits” you.
This is why the starter kits are awesome. While you can totally buy the standard 15 ml bottles of oils, the starter kits have 5 ml bottles. This way, you can test a bunch of them out at your own pace. It took me several months to figure out which oils work best for me.
What can I possibly use oils for?
I have written this great article that explains how I treat the different Celiac disease and gluten sensitivity symptoms using essential oils. In general, these are the different things you can do with essential oils, though:
- Pain Relief
- Natural Household Cleaners
- Beauty and Skin
- Germ Killers
- Colds and Flu
- Sleep Disorders
- Sickness Prevention
- Foot Fungus
- Oral Care
- Sore Muscles
- Ear Infections
- Balancing Emotions
- And more…
